SELF IDENTITY

Self-concept or self identity refers to the global understanding a sentient being has of him or herself. It presupposes but can be distinguished from self-consciousness, which is simply an awareness of one's self. It is also more general than self-esteem, which is the purely evaluative element of the self-concept.[1]

The self-concept is composed of relatively permanent self-assessments, such as personality attributes, knowledge of one's skills and abilities, one's occupation and hobbies, and awareness of one's physical attributes. For example, the statement, "I am lazy" is a self-assessment that contributes to the self-concept. In contrast, the statement "I am tired" would not normally be considered part of someone's self-concept, since being tired is a temporary state. Nevertheless, a person's self-concept may change with time, possibly going through turbulent periods of identity crisis and reassessment.

The self-concept is not restricted to the present. It includes past selves and future selves. Future selves or "possible selves" represent individuals' ideas of what they might become, what they would like to become, and what they are afraid of becoming. They correspond to hopes, fears, standards, goals, and threats. Possible selves may function as incentives for future behavior and they also provide an evaluative and interpretive context for the current view of self(Fleming, J. S., & Courtney, B. E. (1984). The dimensionality of self-esteem: II Hierarchical facet model for revised measurement scales. Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, 46, 404-421).

Considering my permanent attributes i would say that I am Lazy, caring aswell as inconsiderate at times, immature, proud, easily aggrivated, imaginative, protective, competitive, jealous and friendly. There is more i am sure but this is what I think of myself so far. As for my future self identity it would mainly depend on family situation and job for example i either expect to have a very well paying job or a very average job either way would affect me alot for example the well paying job would lead me to be very self concious, selfish, snobby, very protective and caring for family members and shun others and so on. however an average job would leave me more or less the same considering that my family situation would be the same as well. This is my own personal look at self identity if you know something i dont know about myself please say so. I have tried to portray some of these attributes in my videos and i think it would be quite noticible for example i fit in as many jokes into my videos as i can you may not get them all because of thier level of maturity could be quite low, at the start of most of my videos i throw up a disclaimer and most of them will state in a very nice way that i hope that no one will steal ideas from me but what brought up that message in the 1st place would be my jealousy and the need to protect anything or anyone close to me. Im not sure that would be considered as me bringing out part of me into my short vids but i do consider it to be.

just a few of my sketch's i have made into characters and i plan on turning them into 3d models, not all of them though. some of these sketches were done impulsively and one is for the logo I am still desinging. I do get inspiration from other characters but most of my characters are drawn from head maybe with some sub-concious inspiration.

Practioner Development

I am developing myself by creating as much personal work as possible, I figure that if I create as much work as possible I will eventually end up with a healthy amount of characters and sketches, enough to stream a few episodes of a small show created by myself ofcourse. I've created Little scenes that my created avatars would act out with various jokes but only in writing i do plan to put my work to sketches eventually.I cant say that I have researched many animators but alot of animations can be admired on youtube and that is what I tend to do. I do intend to have a more serious approach sooner or later but I'd rather just get work done now.

The ring in the Microwave.

Wow its early! I stayed up all night finishing my new animation video and im not all impressed there is so much room for improvement that it left this animation looking as if it were half done but I will stand behind it as it is my work. Its supposed to be a pardody of the ring but i only bring that into play twice and you might not get it the 1st time round. If need be watch it more than once. The flash towards the end is a small skit with characters of mine that i intend to do more of in my videos. Once my skill in flash has improved I intend to make a little show out of it just for fun but money is welcome if you'll pay. Please enjoy.

Mood Board

Above is a picture of all the things that i would say describe me. although i have not come up with an idea for my identity box this is what I do have so far. I wanted to photoshop a family photo in but my program wasnt working so Il start off by saying that they are what is most important to me in my life without them i would be no where.

Now on to the photo. The 1st I would like you to notice is the passport. I put this up ofcourse to show I am a citizen of Botswana and I infact have nothing to do with america, but also because I am very proud of my heritage and even though I only have south african blood in my viens I still represent my country as much as possible. The South African in my blood cant be shown since I dont cut myself but all south africans have a strong passion for money also could be the reason why the crime is so bad however I put this picture to show how much i love money and my south african roots. Next is my hat i love this hat, but in general i love hats and caps always have since childhood and i think I have such a strong passion to caps because my father wears hats all the time i probably picked it up from him at a young age. Infact my wall is posted up with caps(Fitteds, 59 - 50's, flags and baseball caps). On that are my head phones to represent my love for music hip hop and drum and base in specific but i do like a few more genres but Id speficially listen to these two and in the cap is another symbol of music, so the headphones were my fail safe. The Zune is an mp3 from microsoft just as good as the ipod if not better Id say.however my Zune eneded up breaking down and I had to buy a Ipod shuffle. Next are my shoes they are skate shoes adio eugene. I think that skate shoes are the most comfortable shoes and I hate crocs i think they are terrible little random fact It also shows my passion for skate i slip in skating whenever I can and i think its great besides sitting by a computer for a long time like this course is going to demand. Above is my clay designs which you will see in my latest animation which i feel so so about but am still proud of it and hope i could get a few more of the animation at the end and if successfully and if after i improve my skills i will try upload frequent episodes on youtube. Below it all is my skateboard but I have already gone on about my love for skateboarding. So below that is an xbox controller and I gotta say i love playing xbox reason why i want to go into game design and animation and directly below is a Richard Prior cd which is hilarious and i like many comedians that i dont have any dvds of but richard prior is the grandfather of funny. Next to that is the child of comedy grandfather to family guy would be simpsons expcet the grandmother was Pink floyds the wall. On the left is a cup a friend got me for my birthday which says world best drinker on it which shows i like alcholic bevarges if you can see from the picture on it. I wouldnt say i get unbelivably drunk. Next in line is a small can of spray paint and when i was smaller i used to spray paint houses near my home because the streets where very dangerous but then it would make you think hey if you really want to be a badass then actually go do what they do dont stay near home like a poser however i was not bout to get stabbed for 30 pula phone = £ 2. no jokes and last ketchup because it goes with everything seriously and i have cooked many bad meals but ketchup got me through so thanks tomatoes peace!

I have successfully created my online 3D avatar and have begun exploring the 3D world. A few minutes later after what I previously wrote I explored the world of Second Life and the only complain so far would be the controls. It would seem that there is no exact point of this online game except to explore the world. I've previously played World of Warcraft and i would much prefer this game however I am not prepared to have to pay to get my identities work done. After taking literally two hours to get a person who didn't know how to speak english properly to help me get the measurements right for the clothes i wanted to wear, just so the clothes look baggy and such but now my camp is tilted just right and Im off to see the world. This takes place a few minutes after I left this blog.  I first visited the home of sonic and as soon as I clicked on a kunei block the game crashed, but I did like the few seconds of the themed area you could pick up rings as if in the actual game. So far in the game I have been a DJ I have gotten a free bike and car and rode around Brooklyn New York and Liverpool Lime ST and I think that the game is alright but without a proper aim of the game why would anyone really want to play this? Ofcourse I will continue to do so until completion of this Identities work.
